Sister City

The Caledonian Club is a proud sponsor of Sarasota’s fifth Sister City, Dumfermline, Scotland. Dunfermline and Fife County are similar in size to Sarasota (60,000)  and Sarasota County (300,000 plus). Dunfermline is an outstanding artistic community, is known as the “Silicon Glen” of Scotland, and is the ancient capital of Scotland. Fife County is the home of the world’s first golf course, St. Andrews, and one of the oldest universities in the world, St. Andrews University (1411).

The Caledonian Club supports Sister Cities activities and exchanges between the leaders of Sarasota and Dumfermline’s business, education, artistic, civic, sports and governmental organizations.

Sarasota’s other sister cities include: Hamilton, Province of Ontario; Merida, Mexico; Perpignan, France; Tel Mond, Israel; Treviso, Italy; Vladimir, Russia; Siming District, Xiamen, China.

The present City Director for Dumfermline is past Caledonian President PAULINE MITCHELL. If you wish to volunteer on the Sister Cities Committee, or if you wish to become a Sister Cities member, please contact her at Pauline Mitchell or by phone at (941-485-5199)
